Teaching

I currently teach COM413 Principles of Artificial Intelligence on the MSc in Computer Science at the University of Sheffield. The module provides a broad introduction to the foundations of artificial intelligence, combining the classical ideas that underpin the field with the modern techniques that drive today's AI systems.

Topics include search, knowledge representation, probabilistic reasoning, machine learning, and generative AI. Alongside the underlying theory, the module emphasises practical implementation in Python, giving students hands-on experience of building and experimenting with AI algorithms and systems.

The aim is to help students understand not only how contemporary AI systems work, but also why they work, and the fundamental principles that continue to shape the field.

Previous teaching

From 2020 to 2025 I taught COM6018 Data Science with Python on the MSc in Artificial Intelligence. The module introduced students to data manipulation, analysis, visualisation, and machine learning using Python, providing a practical foundation in modern data science techniques.
